Four Utah towns make Money

In U.S. Farmington is 14th, with Draper, Bountiful and Lindon also listed.

Four Utah towns made Money magazine's latest list of the 100 best places to live in the United States.

Farmington (No. 14), Draper (22), Bountiful (71) and Lindon (74) were among the small towns with populations of 8,500 to 50,000 cited by the magazine in its August issue, which went on sale Monday.

Rankings were based on availability of good jobs, crime rates, schools and affordable housing, among other criteria.

Money called Farmington a "one-stoplight town squeezed between the Wasatch Mountains and the Great Salt Lake with a quaint downtown and houses that come in all shapes and sizes."

Draper's population tripled in the 1990s because of amenities such as its new library, 29 parks and proximity to "world-class" hang gliding at Point of the Mountain.

Bountiful has become a "booming, self-sufficient place" with plenty of commercial amenities and access to the FrontRunner commuter rail line.

Parts of heavily Mormon Lindon have great views of Utah Valley and Utah Lake. The town has had some foreclosures and home prices have dropped.

Topping the list is Louisville, Colo., outside Denver. Rounding out the top 10 are Chanhassen, Minn.; Papillion, Neb.; Middleton, Wis.; Milton, Mass.; Warren, N.J.; Keller, Texas, Peachtree City, Ga.; Lake St. Louis, Mo.; and Mukilteo, Wash.
